N.J. market allowed open despite nearby dioxin find

Newark, N.J.
Merchants in the Newark Farmers Market, shut down when deadly dioxin was found at a nearby chemical plant, were permitted to reopen for business under limited conditions.
An amended adminstrative order issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection forbade the open-air sale of products at the market but permitted merchants to sell their goods indoors. The market is located 1,500 yards from a former herbicide and pesticide manufacturing plant where at least one soil test last week showed a heavy concentration of the toxic substance.
