Gasoline taxes running high

If you're driving, this summer's vacation may be, well, rather taxing. Gasoline taxes are relatively high this year, according to a survey by Prentice-Hall. In 30 states the gasoline tax rates are over 10 cents a gallon. West Virginia has the highest rate, at just over 15 cents, while Maryland tacks on only 2 cents.
State sales taxes are up, too. The survey found sales taxes ranged from a low of 2 percent in Oklahoma to 8.25 percent in New York City when combined with local rates.
