Dissident group criticizes pay of Teamsters officials

Sixty-five Teamsters union officials received salaries and expenses of more than $100,000 during 1982, while many rank-and-file members were working under wage freezes, a dissident union group reported.
Teamsters president Jackie Presser, who was a union vice-president and head of the Ohio Conference of Teamsters in 1982, made $394,895 during the year, the third-highest amount, the group said.
The report was issued by the Teamsters for a Democratic Union organization, a small but vocal reform group. It said the data were based primarily on research into official reports by the union to the Labor Department.
