Leaders of Pacific countries criticized France at a conference here Monday on nuclear testing, conference sources said. At the opening of the two-day meeting of the South Pacific Forum, Australia presented a submission calling for the creation of a nuclear-free zone in the Pacific.
France, which has been carrying out underground nuclear testing at the Mururoa Atoll since 1975, has denied there is any radiation danger.
