A US congressional report, defying the wishes of the West German government, has revealed a site where US cruise nuclear missiles are to be deployed in West Germany.
The House Armed Services Committee report, citing information provided by the Air Force, said construction would begin early next year on the site at Wuschheim, a village in the Hunsruck Hills east of Luxembourg.
Bonn has kept the location of the missile sites a matter of strict secrecy, according to a West German Embassy spokesman, who said there would be no comment on the disclosure. West German officials are concerned that the sites for the 204 cruise and Pershing missiles it has agreed to take could become the target of mass protests and possibly terrorist acts.
