School teachers end strike in St. Louis
September 13, 1983
St. Louis
St. Louis public school teachers, faced with a federal judge's back-to-work order and a threat of mass firings, ended their four-day-old strike Monday. There was no immediate word on whether the two sides had reached agreement in new contract talks. Throughout the rest of the country, more than 100,000 students remained out of school due to teachers strikes.
