'New right' group shelves threat to dump Reagan

The National Conservative Political Action Committee has backed away from a threat to stop supporting President Reagan and will go ahead with a $5 million drive to promote his reelection.

Terry Dolan, chairman of the wealthy ''new right'' group, said NCPAC leaders had reluctantly decided to stick with Mr. Reagan after heated debate over what it called his ''weak response'' to the destruction of the South Korean airliner Sept. 1. NCPAC requested that Reagan appoint a commission to recommend tough retaliatory moves against Moscow, such as declaring Soviet-bloc nations in default of debts and striving for full ''military superiority'' over the Russians.
