Kissinger panel faces opposition to US policy

The Kissinger Commission on Central America faced strong opposition Monday to American policies as it began a six-nation tour of the turbulent area. Henry Kissinger, leader of the commission, told reporters on arrival Sunday night the team would examine economic progress, political development, and security in Central America, where three countries are now fighting insurgents. Political sources in Panama City said the US team would be told at meetings with President Ricardo de la Espriella and political and business leaders that Central America's problems go beyond the East-West struggle.
