2 top N.Y. Democrats are backing Mondale
Walter Mondale received two more important preprimary endorsements Thursday in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, as New York's governor and senior senator said he had their backing.
Gov. Mario Cuomo and Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan cited Mondale's ideas, ideals, and experience as a senator and then as vice-president as the reasons for their choice. Despite Mondale's preprimary support, Mr. Cuomo said he faced a tough fight for the nomination and that he thought John Glenn had the edge.
