170 protesters detained at Seneca Army Depot

At least 170 people, including longtime antiwar activist Dr. Benjamin Spock, were detained Monday during a nuclear weapons protest where waves of demonstrators climbed a fence at the Seneca Army Depot. Activists say that nuclear weapons are stored at the base, about 35 miles southeast of Rochester.

Meanwhile, several hundred police dragged away and arrested 100 demonstrators who blocked the entrance to a US munitions depot near Frankfurt, West Germany, which antinuclear activists say is to receive new US missiles. The protesters were later released.
