Bangladesh general says elections to be held in '84

The military leader of Bangladesh said Wednesday he would hold elections in the Asian nation next year to return the country to democracy. Lt. Gen. Hossain Muhammad Ershad, who took over in a bloodless coup last year, chose the occasion of a visit to Washington to announce the plans. He said presidential elections would be held sometime in the middle of next year, followed by elections to Parliament.
