Weinberger sees Soviets returning to missile talks
Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger Dec. 2 predicted the Soviet Union would resume talks on limiting medium-range nuclear missiles in Western Europe in a matter of months.
He said the Soviets will realize their effort to block deployment of the new Pershing II ballistic missiles and slower cruise missiles has failed and see it is in their best interest to resume the talks.
Weinberger, in Paris for talks with French officials before going to Brussels Dec. 5 for the meeting of NATO defense ministers, said ''the prospects for successful negotiations are better than they have ever been''.
