Women boo Bush on ERA response

Vice-President George Bush was booed by women of both parties at the national Forum for Women State Legislators when he responded, ''Nope'' to a lawmaker who asked if he supported the Equal Rights Amendment.

He added that President Reagan could not be expected to change his position on the ERA after opposing it in his 1980 campaign.

The women state legislators were attending a weekend forum billed as the largest gathering of elected women in history.

Mr. Bush delivered a speech Saturday night that dealt solely with a need for resuming arms control talks with the Soviets. He took only a few questions from the audience of 150 Republicans and more than 200 Democrats from 46 states.
