US says documents reveal Grenada's Eastern leaning

The Reagan administration, working its way through a 50-foot-high stack of captured documents, has released another batch to back its contention that Grenada had become a Soviet mini-satellite in the Caribbean.

Included in the latest release is a preliminary assessment by the State Department and the Pentagon of documents captured by US forces in the October invasion, in which the government charges: The government of Grenada had signed a total of five secret military agreements with the Soviet Union, Cuba, and North Korea, and there is evidence that there were further agreements with Bulgaria and Czechoslovokia; the Grenada government was planning to build a military force of some 10,000 troops, making it one of the largest in the Caribbean.
