Dallas is sending all 154 of its Grumman Flxible buses away for repairs following New York City's decision to scrap its Flxibles because they were unsafe.
Dallas Transit System General Manager Cliff Franklin said Friday the buses were being sent to Houston for repairs for 11 different problems, depleting the city's 560-bus fleet until May.
He insisted the repairs were for minor problems such as replacement of window seals and engine oil-pump housing bolts, and that all were covered by warranty. Asked if the buses were mechanically sound, Mr. Franklin replied: ''When they're operational, they're a good bus.''
