White House to renew request for Nicaraguan aid

Calling aid to rebel forces in Nicaragua ''a vital part of the President's Central American policy,'' White House spokesman Larry Speakes said Friday the administration will work with Congress to get the money despite a Senate committee's rejection of the request.

On Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee refused to grant Reagan's emergency request for an additional $21 million to aid rebels battling Nicaragua's pro-Cuban government. The committee delayed until next week a vote on a Reagan administration request for $93 million in emergency military aid for El Salvador.
