Mitterrand of France plans to visit Soviet Union
President Francois Mitterrand said in an interview published Thursday that he would visit the Soviet Union, perhaps this year. It would be his first visit there as president.
Mitterrand told the weekly magazine Paris Match that events in Afghanistan and Poland, which had held him back from visiting Moscow, still must be condemned. But, he said, ''France is working for peace and is highly conscious both of the position of the USSR in the world and of our historically friendly relations with the Russian people.''
