Meese says he wishes he'd added loan to Senate list

Presidential counselor Edwin Meese, President Reagan's embattled nominee for US attorney general, said Sunday in a New York Times interview that ''the only thing I can think of'' to have done differently would have been to list the $15, 000 loan to his wife on financial disclosure forms submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Taking the offensive against allegations of financial and ethical misdeeds, Mr. Meese said he had not created the challenge to his nomination. ''It's created by the people who are distorting this,'' he said.
