Indianapolis council OKs law to curb violent porno

An ordinance that would make distributors of violent pornography subject to sex-discrimination lawsuits won approval from the city council, but even supporters say they doubt it will survive court challenges.

The council voted 24 to 5 in favor of the ordinance Monday night, and Mayor William H.Hudnut III, who has expressed his support, was expected to sign the legislation quickly.

By defining violent pornography as a form of sex discrimination, the law would make distributors subject to civil rights lawsuits.
