Pope continued on his way after incident in S. Korea
Police apprehended a young Korean man Sunday who fired a toy pistol as Pope John Paul II's motorcade was traveling along a Seoul street. The Pope was aware of the incident but was not injured and continued unfazed with his schedule.
About an hour later, the pontiff raised 93 Koreans and 10 Frenchmen to sainthood in the first canonization held outside the Vatican since the 13th century.
At Sogang University here Saturday, the Pope spoke to nearly 4,600 South Korean priests, monks, and nuns and stressed the need for the church to express ''a special love for the poor and the outcasts and for those who are forgotten.''
In Pusan earlier in the day, the Pope told a mass rally of South Korean workers that people should not be mere instruments of production and should be valued more highly than the goods they produce.
