Churchwoman trial near, Salvadorean court says
A jury is to be selected this week in the trial of five National Guardsmen charged with murdering four American churchwomen in 1980, court sources say. The United States has been pressing for a resolution of the case, which has been delayed by technicalities and appeals.
Jose Anibal Jimenez, the judge's court secretary, said the suspects could get 20 years in jail on each of the four counts of aggravated homicide. Mr. Jimenez said the trial could start as early as May 24.
