Present oil price, output advised by OPEC panel

OPEC's market monitoring committee decided Monday to advise oil ministers to stick with the cartel's current price and production levels in the face of a weak market and war in the Persian Gulf.

The 13-nation Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries begins its 70th regular meeting in Vienna today. Efforts to preserve the cartel's unity will be high on the agenda.
