Voters turned out, but not turned off

Here on President Reagan's home turf, viewers of various stripes mostly concur that the Republicans put on a less interesting show than the one the Democrats staged in July.
But if they weren't thrilling the television audience or winning converts, the Republicans appeared to be putting a unified, upbeat face on their party.
A young mother and schoolteacher in Orange County said she was disappointed by the speeches given through Wednesday. The convention had none of the spark of the Democratic conclave, she said. Nonetheless, she leans toward Reagan. ''I see improvement in my lifestyle ... what my money can buy. I just trust him.''
A Hispanic advertizing executive, who tends to favor Reagan, based on economic issues, said he is leery of the social stands the conventioneers are taking. ''The ultraconservative issues in the Republican platform scare me a little.''
