Solar car completes cross-country journey
Students from a small Missouri college poured a bottle of Pacific Ocean water into the Atlantic here Wednesday to celebrate the first coast-to-coast journey of a solar-powered car.
The TSAR - Trans-American Solar Auto Run - began in San Diego and averaged 15 m.p.h. on the 45-day, 2,400-mile trip. The 560-pound car was put together by a group from Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., for about $5,000.
