Candidate Mondale to meet Soviet Gromyko in New York
Walter Mondale announced yesterday he will meet Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko on Sept. 27 in New York, one day before Mr. Gromyko is scheduled to talk with President Reagan.
A brief statement said the session would ''stress the importance of resuming ... businesslike negotiations between the United States and Soviet Union to ease tensions and halt the nuclear arms race.'' It also said Mr. Mondale would ''emphasize all Americans are united in the hope that substantive progress will result'' from the discussion between Gromyko and Reagan.
