Disneyland, Yale are struck as workers reject contracts

Some 1,840 Disneyland employees in Anaheim, Calif., struck after rejecting a management proposal for a new contract with a two-year wage freeze. Management sought the freeze to ease financial difficulties caused by a three-year decline in attendance. It contends that workers are paid $7 to $10 an hour, substantially more than the average for similar work in the industry.

In New Haven, Conn., union clerical and technical workers walked out at Yale University Sept. 26, despite a ''final offer'' of a 24.2 percent wage increase over three years and extended medical and dental benefits. The union also charges employment discrimination against women and minorities.
