Jobless managers in greener areas

It may be a lesson learned from the recession: More and more unemployed managers are taking new jobs out of state. James E. Challenger of the Challenger, Gray & Christmas consulting firm says the number of out-of-work executives willing to relocate grew from 25 percent before the recession to 36 percent today.
''Many job seekers learned from the recessionary economy that their reemployment potential grew in proportion to their willingness to move,'' Mr. Challenger says. ''Others had to undertake national or regional search programs in order to have enough prospects to develop. The ones who stayed home had a harder time because they limited their prospects.''
