Lebanon and Israel agree to delay troop withdrawal talks
Lebanon asked the United Nations yesterday to postpone troop withdrawal talks with Israel that were due to have opened today. Israel agreed to the temporary delay. Lebanon said it needed more time to get Cabinet endorsement of the negotiations and to appoint military delegates.
The talks are aimed at arranging the withdrawal of about 12,000 Israeli troops from south Lebanon.
