Call for 'people's court' trial rejected by President Marcos

President Ferdinand E. Marcos rejected calls Wednesday for creation of a ''people's court'' to try Gen. Fabian Ver and other military men on charges of assassinating opposition leader Benigno Aquino. In a televised speech, Mr. Marcos said the proposal was not meant to ensure justice but ''to meet the demands of political spite,'' and he could not agree to it without setting a precedent for any future leader to create a ''hanging jury or court'' to eliminate his enemies.
