Soviet-backed resolve calling peace a 'right' wins OK at UN
The General Assembly gave overwhelming approval Monday to a Soviet-backed resolution declaring peace to be a ''sacred right'' of mankind and more important than other human rights.
The United States abstained, as did all its Western allies except Greece.The vote was 92-0, with 34 abstentions. Soviet Ambassador Oleg Troyanovsky declared in debate that peace was the ultimate human right.
