US anti-apartheid protesters plan to step up their action
The Trans-Africa pressure group working to end apartheid in South Africa plans a massive increase in its civil disobedience campaign outside the South African Embassy in Washington next month, executive director Randall Robinson said Sunday.
He said the protests grew out of black frustrations over the Reagan administration's policy toward South Africa. The goal of the campaign is to seek economic sanctions against South Africa if the Pretoria government does not begin an immediate move to dismantle apartheid, he said, adding that the protest movement could also eventually be carried to American corporations that do business in South Africa.
