8th Indiana church member is indicted in a child's death

Another member of the Faith Assembly congregation has been indicted in the death of a child who was not given medical treatment. Barbara Irwin of Warsaw was charged Monday with reckless homicide, criminal recklessness, and neglect of a dependent for relying on prayer rather than a doctor's care at the time of her six-week-old son's illness - diagnosed as pneumonia - in November. She is the eighth member of the northern Indiana church group to be indicted.

Kosciusko County Coroner Gary A. Eastlund said he thought medical treatment would have saved the child. County Prosecutor Michael L. Miner said he expected Mrs. Irwin to be arrested tomorrow.
