Briton quotes Gorbachev on 'star wars' response

Labor leader Neil Kinnock says visiting Kremlin official Mikhail Gorbachev indicated that if the United States proceeds with its so-called ''star wars'' project, Moscow may try to penetrate the new weapons system rather than copy them.

Mr. Gorbachev toured an auto plant at Cowley, near Oxford, yesterday and later held talks at the London Chamber of Commerce and the Trade Department, the seventh day of his eight-day visit here.
