Yesterday and today caught in the click of a camera

Monitor photographer R. Norman Matheny was practicing his art one recent day in the historic shipbuilding town of Essex, north of Boston. As he sought the best angle for a picture of the weathervane on the town hall, the vapor trail of a high-flying jet appeared. Thus, he was able to capture symbols of two transportation epochs in one frame.
