Atop the extra-pay pyramid

The most lucrative of the 70 extra-pay positions in the Massachusetts legislature, and their current occupants, are: Senate president William M. Bulger (D) of Boston and House Speaker George Keverian (D) of Everett, $65,000; Senate Ways and Means Committee chairwoman Patricia McGovern (D) of Lawrence and House Ways and Means chairman Richard Voke of Chelsea, $55,000. The House and Senate floor leaders of the two parties (four people) get $52,500.
