`Emin is different'

There are poets and painters who after portraying any aspect of life on paper or canvas avoid any discussion of their product, either out of fear or coquetry. I believe coquetry and fear are the same thing in art. The fear is a terror of being branded with rationalism. Emin is different. He does not avoid coming to conclusions or making statements of principle, even in the most intimate poems. He is for completed ideas, favoring the full stop, the period, over the exclamation point.

Not that I am blaming any poet for being suggestive or inconclusive. On the other hand, I consider it a poet's right to be final in his statements when he has the individuality to do so. And Emin does:

There are no quicker words

than yes or no.
