Beware, all maps!

Beware, all maps! You are not secure in your boundaries! How should it be believed that someone with a pen could draw lines that cancel out customs, limit language, restrict thought and make gods agree? Even mountains, even rivers, even oceans failed because there were ships to carry the baggage of change, feet pounding new tracks into the ground voices on the wind. Sands shift, streams ramble. Boulders erode. And even if they did not, who is the cartographer who can stop armies from crossing over his opinions? Maps, beware! Much that has been claimed unalterable will be redefined.
