Innovation (PBS, 7:30-8 p.m.): Update on SETI, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, with visits to Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other institutions involved.

Under Milk Wood (PBS, 8-9:30 p.m.): Repeat of film version of the Dylan Thomas tale, starring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter O'Toole, and Glynis Johns.

The Scarlet and the Black (CBS, 8-11 p.m.): Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer star in this drama based on a priest's exploits in behalf of Allied POWs during World War II. (Repeat.) SUNDAY

CBS News Sunday Morning (CBS, 9-11 a.m.): Portions of a special chronicling pianist Vladimir Horowitz's return to Russia this spring and his concert in Moscow are rebroadcast.

Newsleaders (PBS, 7-7:30 p.m.): Host John Chancellor interviews Otis Chandler of the Los Angeles Times. MONDAY

Liberty (NBC, 8-11 p.m.): Frank Langella, Carrie Fisher, LeVar Burton, and Chris Sarandon appear in a made-for-TV movie about the installation of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

Private Conversations: American Masters (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): Premi`ere of a documentary series on the creative process presents playwright Arthur Miller, actors Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich, and director Volker Schloendorff discussing the recent Broadway production of ``Death of a Salesman.''

Andr'e Kert'esz: A Poet with the Camera (PBS, 10:30-11 p.m.): Documentary traces the life and work of this Hungarian-born pioneer of photojournalism. TUESDAY

The Climate Crisis (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): Repeat of a ``Nova'' segment exploring the ``greenhouse effect'' and how it could alter Earth's atmosphere.

What About Mom and Dad? (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``Frontline'' rerun assesses the quality of life for Americans over age 75 and the forces eroding their economic power. WEDNESDAY

All-Star Salute to Ford's Theatre (CBS, 8-9 p.m.): Jaclyn Smith and Richard Chamberlain host a cavalcade of stars in a black-tie tribute taped at the Washington, D.C., theater.

Mandela (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Through rare film clips, photos, and reminiscences, this documentary traces the life of Winnie Mandela and her imprisoned husband, Nelson, two of South Africa's most vocal anti-apartheid activists.

Women of South Africa (PBS, 10-11:30 p.m.): Author Nadine Gordimer introduces documentaries that examine that nation's domestic labor practices and offer close-ups of five black women struggling under apartheid.
