A SERIES of winter storms has showered the East Coast this late January. Nighttime cold has frozen to the base the snow piles along the road. In some places, the buildup beside driveways and walks is mounded too high to shovel another snowfall over. California can strike Easterners as suspect, whatever the weather. But watching the weekend's Super Bowl, with temperatures in Pasadena in the balmy 70s, many a Frost Belt fan wondered at a region where summer seems not to end.
Domed stadiums have not become universal in the North. Here, wearied by the January blizzard of Super Bowl hype, there is cause to appreciate that winter can still sack the game.
