Beating the heat
July 27, 1987
Children in Brooklyn, N.Y., cooled off at a neighborhood fire hydrant as a two-week heat wave continued to bake Eastern states over the weekend. Others turned to air conditioners or headed to the movies for relief from blistering temperatures in the upper 90s. High-temperature records were broken in at least six cities. Lower temperatures in the Northeast were forecast for today, but no change was expected in the Midwest and Southeast.
