Incredible, this evening calm, Casual as if the day had been In the same vein: serenely warm, Slipping the hours across the scene Of summer in the pleasant round Of sunlit scent and sight and sound. And yet this morning daylight spun The soup-green of Novemeber's wrap, Till thunder ripped the afternoon And emptied torrents through the gap, A climate never to depart That hid this evening in its heart.
