FRIDAY Back on the Road With Charles Kuralt (CBS, 8-9 p.m.): Here's a collection of vignettes - often inspiring ones - by Mr. Kuralt as he samples America's byways and people, like the widow from a small mill town who spends her life cooking meals for anyone who comes to her door.

SATURDAY World Series (Please see tomorrow's sports page for TV schedule). All-Star Celebration: the '88 Vote (ABC, 9-11 p.m.): A long list of celebrities in many fields - from William F. Buckley Jr. to Whoopi Goldberg - appear in this comedy-music special aimed both at laughs and at getting people to vote.

SUNDAY America Picks the All-Time Favorite Movies (ABC, 8-9 p.m.): Jerry Lewis hosts a special with an unusual format: Viewers can phone in votes for films they liked best in several categories. Out of Africa (CBS, 9-11 p.m.): The 1985 movie - starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep - of Danish writer Isak Dinesen's memoirs was filmed on location in Nairobi. It airs in two parts (Part 2: Monday). Masterpiece Theatre (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): The much-praised series begins its 18th season with the first of a seven-part story called ``A Perfect Spy,'' based on John leCarr'e's best-selling novel about the life of Magnus Pym, an elegant con man carrying on a family tradition.

MONDAY 60 Minutes: 20th Anniversary, the Second 10 Years (CBS, 8-9 p.m.): Second of a two-parter offering high points from the TV-history-making magazine news program. Out of Africa (CBS, 9-11 p.m.): Part 2 of the movie starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Discover: The World of Science (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): The science-magazine series kicks off its fourth season of informatively fascinating shows, hosted by Peter Graves. Campaign: A View From Abroad (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): From several foreign sites - including the USSR and Japan - this program probes how the rest of the world views the American presidential race.

TUESDAY The American Experience (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``Indians, Outlaws, and Angie Debo.'' Who's the late Angie Debo? An early champion of the American Indian, who recounts her life in Oklahoma.
