Autumn

October 19, 1988

Autumn on tiptoes approaches Summer from behind and with a cool caress gently nudges her along. Quickly, she offers the trees rich garments of gold and red and her parched lips kiss each flower goodnight. Then, quite carefully, quite timidly,

She hand-picks each fragile leaf and with great solemnity allows them to slip

through

her fingers,

until one by one, they crown the earth and anxiously await the mighty feet of Winter.
