Wet July Mornings

July 31, 1989

Wet July mornings that carry the scent Of summer in bloom have all the delicate power Of understatement there is no stress in the blent Sweetnesses borne on the gentle calm of the hour Of moist light kinder than sunrise. Under the skin The senses open like flowers to let delight in. None of the heavenly ache of an eastern sky Brilliant with color! The color is all the strands Of fragrance that lie on the air as flowers apply Brush stroke on brush stroke of perfume in merging bands, Using the gray of the damp as a canvas where Tranquility lies like a vision upon the air.
