US OPPOSES UN MONITORING IN CAMBODIA

The United States Tuesday ruled out United Nations monitoring of next month's promised withdrawal of Vietnamese troops from Cambodia unless a full peace accord was negotiated beforehand. A US spokesman said that even if the pro-Vietnamese Cambodian government dropped its opposition to a UN monitoring force, Washington and other backers of Cambodian resistance groups would not support such a partial step.
