INTERIM BASEBALL COMMISSIONER NAMED

Fay Vincent, the deputy commissioner of baseball, was named acting commissioner by baseball's executive council on Saturday, following the death of commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti. A baseball official said he expected the executive council would recommend that Vincent be made commissioner pro tem.
