GLOBAL FAST DAY

The China Information Center (CIC) in Auburndale, Mass., along with London-based Amnesty International, is calling for a global fast on Oct. 1 to commemorate those killed in the Beijing massacre. Participants are urged to send the money they would have spent on food to the newly formed Democracy for China Fund in Cambridge, Mass. This fund, a foundation under the auspices of CIC, will be used to: Support the efforts of the CIC to collect and disperse to the media and others information on the pro-democracy movement.

Provide funds for the ``June 4 Radio Project,'' a one-hour program in Chinese, staffed by students in Chicago, to broadcast accurate information to China from locations outside the country.

Assist Chinese students and residents in the United States with visa, legal, educational, communication, and financial needs.

Maintain and strengthen the global network of pro-democracy Chinese students.
