Light and Scarlet
Days of Light and Scarlet
October 17, 1989
We have returned in a day when trees are full of light and scarlet, shifting in wind so that is is hard to tell which are yellow leaves, which is sun. At noon the sky is radiant, deep, ocean above oceans. Looking across the inlet of cold sea water and bleached grasses toward oaks, I realize I have not thought for a long while of why such scenes still reach inward, healing, being so much like something we have always known is right.
