WORTH NOTING ON TV

November 8, 1989

SATURDAY Paul McCartney: Put It There (Showtime cable network, 10-11 p.m.): Rehearsing, clowning, and some very frank talk are featured in this documentary made in London while ex-Beatle McCartney and his new band were preparing for their world tour. It shows them recording their album ``Flowers in the Dirt'' and includes comments by McCartney about his late partner, John Lennon. SUNDAY Polly (NBC, 7-9 p.m.): On ``The Magical World of Disney,'' an original musical - something fairly rare for network TV, at least when done in the lush production style of this story about an ineluctably joyful 10-year-old orphan who comes to live with a rich aunt in 1955 Alabama and manages to integrate the town. Starring the ``Cosby Show'''s Keshia Knight Pulliam and Phylicia Rashad, it's based on the Eleanor Porter novel ``Pollyanna'' and a 1960 Disney movie adaptation.

WEDNESDAY American Masters (PBS, 8-9 p.m.): First of a two-part, multi-source documentary - ``Harold Lloyd: The Third Genius'' - about the silent-film comedian still remembered as the man dangling desperately from a big clock on a building. At his height, his brilliant, manic schtick made him more popular than Chaplin or Keaton.
