``Miller's Crossing'' opens the New York Film Festival tonight, and begins its commercial run tomorrow in New York, with wide engagements to follow. ``GoodFellas'' opened in theaters on Wednesday.

``The Krays'' was featured in the Contemporary World Cinema section of this month's Toronto Film Festival, and will open commercially in the United States this fall. It has been highly popular with audiences in England, where it opened last spring.

``King of New York'' will be shown in the New York filmfest tomorrow and Sunday, and begins its theatrical run Sept. 28.

Also in theaters this season is ``The Freshman,'' with Marlon Brando reprising his ``Godfather'' role with a comic twist. And still to come in November: ``The Godfather Part III.''
